What clients can and cannot see
Understand project-scoped access and how Trellis protects internal work.
A reasonable question to ask about any shared system is what exactly you can see, and what you cannot. Here is the straightforward answer.
You see only the projects shared with you
Your access is attached to specific projects rather than to your agency's whole workspace. Anything not shared with you does not appear, and there is no navigation that leads to it.
You cannot see other clients
Other clients of the same agency are in entirely separate areas. This is enforced by the system rather than by hiding links, so there is no view or address that reveals another client's work.
Internal team activity stays internal
Internal boards, team queues, internal-only notes, and the agency's own custom fields do not appear in your portal. What you see is the delivery view, not the agency's internal workings.
Your access level determines what you can do
Some clients can only view, some can comment, and some can approve. Your agency sets this per person, so if you need to approve and cannot, that is a setting they can change rather than a fault.
Your decisions are recorded
When you approve or request changes, that decision is recorded with your name and the time. This protects both sides, since it means what was agreed can be checked later rather than remembered differently.
What success looks like
- You know exactly what your access covers, why you cannot see certain things, and who to ask if you need a different level of access.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming a missing project means a fault, when it usually means it has not been shared.
- Expecting to see internal agency activity, which is deliberately kept separate.
- Sharing your login rather than asking for access for a colleague.
Common questions
Yes. Ask your agency contact, who can share additional projects with you.
Your comments and decisions are visible to the team, which is the point. They are recorded with your name and the time.
